Rare WWII 1st Variation Sterile Ka-Bar Mark 2 Fighting Knife + USMC Sheath:

Rare Sterile WWII Ka-Bar Fighting Knife, with leather sheath. Knife is in very good condition showing some age patina, wear, with a faded parkerized finish. The sheath is also from WWII and shows wear, age, USMC can be seen just below the snap button, I can't make out the other markings. Has a round peened pommel.Ka-Bar made a few variations of Sterile unmarked Mark 2's. Why these sterile knives were made is a mystery. Some are of the opinion that these were made for the Marines serving with the OSS. ** See Book 2 Bill Waters, US and Allied Military Knives WWII. Page 380 for further information.
