This week I\'m offering a variety of collectibles, including trading cards as well as comics. In the Seventies, DC comics sought ways to compete with Marvel, and they tried out a number of interesting, though usually short-lived, titles and characters. One such attempt involved the revival of a classic character of the Thirties and Forties, \"The Shadow.\" The mysterious crime-fighter was born in the media of radio and pulp magazines, although there had been attempts to depict him in the comics during the Forties. More interestingly, The Shadow was clearly the major inspiration for Batman, something DC Comics took many years to acknowledge. DC showcased this period piece adaptation with the artwork of some of the finest artists at their disposal. This series has enjoyed considerable popularity with collectors, and remains popular to the present day. Here I have Shadow #3, dated March 1974, featuring the artwork of Michael Kaluta (with an assist from Bernie Wrightson!). It\'s in very fine condition overall - see scans for condition.
