You are offerding on anEXTREMELY RAREWalking Dead Journal created by Skybound in collaboration with Hyundai's in-house agency, INNOCEAN WORLDWIDE. This journal is long out of print and a must for an TWD collector. Additionally, it is signed by Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead franchise.
I was able to get his signature at New York Comic Con 2013
I have seen many entries about this journal and some are false. However, I have all the information about it because of inside sources.
There were only 500 of these created for promotional use at New York City Comic-Con 2013.A couple hundred of those 500 copies were released to Hyundai employees making even less books available at the convention. These journals were madeAFTERthe success ofThe Walking Dead's Elantra Coup Zombie Survival Editionthat preceded it for SDCC 2013.
Those are equally rare.
Several were signed by Charle Adlard, Cory Walker, and Robert Kirkman. Cory Walker illustrated the majority of the illustrations while Adlard's artwork adorns the pages from various TWD comics.The design team at Hyundai assembled the book for distribution.
STORY+++++++++The book tells the story of an engineer prepping for the zombie apocalypse. He has the foresight to prepare a Veloster Turbo into an armored weapon of destruction. The motto is "Build. Defend. Survive."
The entire artwork is by Charlie Adlard, Cory Walker, and Tony Moore. The art direction and design were created by INNOCEAN (Hyundai's in house agency) with Robert Kirkman overseeing it.
DESIGN++++++++As far as the card stock and paper, it is heavy with numerous lifts, spot colors, and varnishes to make it look like an old journal. There are numerous hits of color in it to make the artwork pop so to speak. It is a beautiful book and a true authentic piece of Walking Dead history. There are no other comics like this. And as far as I am aware, there areNO OTHERversions of this journal.
PURPOSE+++++++++The journals were created to serve two functions. One was to accompany a TWD app, The Walking Dead Chopshop, where a person could build their own Zombie Survival vehicle. One lucky app user would be selected to be flown out to NYCC 2013 and have their car built for everyone to see. So you could say it was a pretty big deal to design a car using the TWD app and be chosen by Robert Kirkman to have your zombie car built.
SECRETS
+++++++++One more thing, there are secret codes and messages in the copy and design. Some relate to the designers names, dates, staff birthdays, and other Easter eggs. I have found a few but not many.There use to be a site that had them all in there. But I believe it is long gone.Again, these journals are one of the more rare TWD books you can get your hands on.
