ST MICHAEL SLAYS ANTI-CHRIST MONEY-LENDER. LARGE ORTHODOX ICON. 23.5\"X15\"A huge heavy icon of a rarely depicted Christian scene painted traditionally, tempera on canvas on solid wood. St Michael (or Archangel Michael, or Mikaèl to the Eastern church) is depicted stomping on the Anti-Christ villain as he is about to slay him.
The usurer or \"Loan Shark\" was the meanest and most evil of all medieval citizens. They were blood-thirsty devil worshipers and were helped by Satan\'s demons, as he is pictured about to die surrounded by the devil\'s helpers.Meticulously painted, it is a very large bright, bold, colourful solid wooden icon on one single slab of very thick hard wood. Halos were done with gold leaf.
