Please note that the shells and smudges are naturalproducts so sizes, color, shape, etc. will vary a little from item to item. Allour abalone shells are super nice retail grade quality, not museum quality.They are real. The backs may have cuts, scrapes, holes, scars and blemishes. Ifyou look at the posted pictures you will see the holes, which are common to99.99% of these shells. Some of theedges may have an odd small chip. Some have a clear glaze or polished interiorto reveal beautiful shades of greens, blues and silver and many other colors,many with some black accents. Black on the inside does not mean the shell hasbeen used – it is a natural coloration in some shells. These shells are perfectfor smudging ceremonies and can also burn resins, etc. They also can act as astorage home for your smudge sticks or as a beautiful natural home decoration,great for holding and displaying tumble stones, etc.

Smudging ceremonies using herbs, resins, Palo SantoWood and incense are a custom of many indigenous cultures throughout the world,including North American indigenous peoples. Traditionally used in rituals,ceremonies and for spiritual purification, house blessings and spiritualcleansing. The smoke is believed by many to cleanse either a space or the bodyand aura, drive away negative energy and help reconnect with mother earth. Makesure the room where you are smudging is well ventilated. Open all the doors andwindows.
