This STRIKING vintage Japanese kokeshi doll is by master kokeshi doll artisan Shozan Shido. Lovingly handmade from gorgeous hardwood, this rare vintage kokeshi doll is stylish and elegant.

So unusual, this sosaku (creative) kokeshi doll appeared in dozens of Japanese magazines when it was first created. It's a fabulous example of traditional Japanese sensibilities fused with mid-century modern styling!

The great master Shido Shozanwas born in 1932 and raised in Oita prefecture

He won many prizes as well as the most important Prime Minister Award.

If you are looking for a well-known artist's kokeshi, this is the answer.

His Kokeshi dolls are too popular to find even in the secondhand market.

Impeccable shape! One slight crack on back
