sale for USAF 3550th Pilot Training Squadron patch and two photos Id\'d to John Alexander Dykes. Other items from Dykes career in the 512th FIS and Army National Guard are being offered offered in separate sales.

1. USAF 3550 Pilot Training Squadron patch. Patch has pre-1960 embroidery. It is approximately 5\" in length and 3\" in width. The squadron was stationed at Bryan AFB, Texas. The year book is known as \"The Pitch.\" The commander was Captain Marvin M Johnson in 1956 and Lt Col Warren H. Sands in 1957.

2. Larger Black and White photo with five pilots wearing the patch on their flight suits in front of T-33 Shooting Star. Dykes is one of the five pilots. They are shown wearing the patches. Photo is 6 1/2\" x 4 x 1/4\" in size. Has Dykes name, Id number, blood type and religion written in ink on the back.

3. Smaller Black and White photo with four pilot wearing the patch on their flight suits in front of a T-33 Shooting Star. Photo is approximately 3 1/2\" x 3\" in size. Writing on the back says, \"Hot fighter pilots note the cigars. Kati John Cogan - a boy from Seattle, and myself in the back. and Fred Erickson and Marv Williams in front.\"

John Alexander Dykes joined the USAF in 1956. He attended Air Command and Staff college. He flew fighters for USAF and the Hawaii, New Mexico, Wyoming, and South Dakota Guards. On 4 Mar 1978 he received the Broken Wing Safety Award for outstanding airmanship during the crash of a Hawaiin National Guard Helicopter. He was a member of the 512th FIS. The squadron was stationed at RAF Brentwaters, England 8 Sep 55-25 Mar 58. He later joined the Army National Guard and retired as a Major.

Photos and patch show normal wear/tear associated with age/use. Larger photo has slight curl. Has writing on back to include his name, ID, blood type, and religion. Smaller photo has slight curl. Writing on back in pilot\'s own hand. Patch shows normal aging process. Unable to tell if it was removed from flight suit. Has minor age related defects.Red arrow on larger photo for reference only and not on original photo.
