For sale is a very rare, antique sword bayonet from the pre-civil war era of America. They also saw use heavily during the American civil war. This was handmade by the Turner family of gun makers, which were a family of German ancestry that settled in the Ohio area. There is some great information out there about them that I don’t want to unfairly copy, so please search it if interested. These were individually made to fit rifles, and this one is clearly stamped number “21”. It had a solid brass handle that is stamped “bahnfrei” which at the time translated approximately to “clear the way” or “get out of the way.” It is 23” overall and has an 18” yatagan shaped blade. It is in fantastic condition for its age, with the blade tang solidly mounts into the handle, but is sold “used as is.” This was given me from my grandfather, and I hope it becomes a special addition to someone’s collection.
