VINTAGE Native American Hopi Gourd Rattles - RARE *PAIR*:

This rare pair of vintage Native American Hopi gourd rattles is a unique addition to any collection. The intricate design and handmade construction make them a valuable piece of art. The rattles are made from cottonwood and cotton twine, with mineral pigment and tempera paint accents. They measure 4 inches in diameter and 8 inches in length, with a weight of 2 ounces. The rattles were purchased at an estate sale in 2001 and are not signed but the Northern Arizona Museum in Flagstaff sold a very similar painted gourd in 1974 that was made byVictor Outah. They are a representation of the Hopi tribe's culture and artistry. This item is perfect for collectors of Native American art and US cultural history.

#2 Gourd Rattle --Thisrattle is the favored one given to the children on the occasion ofthe Powamu or Niman ceremonies. It is painted to resemble the mask ofthe Aya Katsina. The sun motif appears on both sides of the Katsinamask and the rattle.
