History

lDesign and Features: The M1956 canteen set consisted of a one-quart plastic canteen and a canvas cover. The plastic canteen had a screw-on cap and a metal carrying handle. The canvas cover had a strap with a metal buckle for securing the canteen and a small pouch for holding water purification tablets or other small items.

lPurpose and Importance: The M1956 canteen with cover was an essential piece of equipment for soldiers in the harsh and demanding conditions of the Vietnam War.
