Vintage 1940s Telechron 8H55 Selector Clock - WorkingThis is a unique art deco style clock with a brown Bakelite case and a timer function (Selector). This clock has an outlet on the back to plug and appliance into and operates it (on and off) with timer pegs on the face of the clock.This clock was lubricated, and refurbished with new wiring, including new cord and plug, about 7 or 8 years ago. I have been using the clock for the past 7 years and it works perfectly. It keeps perfect time. I have never had to adjust the time. The timer works. I used it to turn a light on and off when I was away from home. This model was introduced in 1945, but we know that this clock was made from 1946 to 1949. In 1946 the name of the company was changed from \"Warren Telechron\" to Telechron, Inc. They stopped making this clock in 1949.
Description:Telechron Model 8H55 Selector synchronous electric clockwith timer, circa 1946-1949. The Bakelite case is 5.2\" high, 5.5\" wide, and 3\" deep. The dial is 3.25\" diameter with brown Arabic numerals, black hands and a brass second hand. Surrounding the dial are 48 pegs which can be pulled forward to set the timer for various on and off times. The timer can be used to turn an appliance on and off (light, radio, coffee pot, etc.) of up to 1650 W. The dial is marked ‘Telechron’ and ‘SELECTOR.’ The rear is marked and ‘TELECHRON INC., ASHLAND, MASS. Made in U. S. A.’ On the back, there is an On-Off-Auto switch at the top and an output socket at bottom right. The rear markings include \'HOUSEHOLD TIMER’ ‘MODEL 8H55’, ‘VOLTS 115 CYC. 60,’ \'W. 2.\' See last photo for a 1945 add featuring this clock.Overall this clock is in excellent refurbished working condition. At some time, a brass medallion of a drum majorette was glued to the top of the case (see photos). The glue caused minor cracks in the Bakelite case under the medallion. They are barely noticeable. The brass medallion adds a unique look to the clock. It is unlikely that it can be removed without damaging the case. The original felt is still on the bottom feet.
