This is a set of two official French State pewter measuring jugs, known as “Pichets." This set was regularly certified by an inspector to ensure that customers were not served short measures. Each time the set was certified it was stamped with a letter, which is visible in the photos. The measure is engraved on the front of each jug. A hallmark is clearly visible on the bottom of both jugs. The original metal work is well used but brings out a utilitarian and rustic charm from an old French household. These well loved and formerly used pieces are rich in history as in character. Use these as decorative pieces in any kitchen or try them out for yourself! Originally, these were bought and used in Lyon, France. Every piece has a story.
