This is an amazing but flawed Victorian crazy quilt from a Pennsylvania estate. It uses an array of late 19th century period fabrics. Fabrics include:- Wool Fabrics: woven plaids; paisleys; floral prints; stripes; checks, fleur de lis print; suiting; twill; blanket pieces; abstract prints Solid red, purple, brown, green, cream, teal, blue,
- Embroidered embellishments: colorful decorative stitching located over the small seams between pieces in multiple colors; - in overall good condition, Two embroidered names: Mary Zellner and M. Snyder
- A few Cotton velvet pieces; linen and hemp fabrics; cotton calico that runs under most of the wool patchwork; and a beautiful sturdy cotton backing fabric in rust red, with leafy plant print in ecru and pale blue in excellent undamaged condition.
The quilt still has overall integrity and can be used as a flawed but interesting display piece. There are some significant problems: wool fabrics with holes ranging from a single small hole to some with numerous holes and some that are worn through with only fibers or fuzz remaining; an missing 8\" x 4\" corner piece; significant damage to most of the sashing fabric.This is a great quilt to study, upcycle, repair; or use to create new projects.
