I have come into a bunch of Zuni fetish carvings that I know very little about. But I\'m absolutely fascinated and it\'s something I\'d like to learn a lot more about. I\'d like to learn about the artists and the stones and minerals used for the carvings as well as the meanings.
I would imagine each Zuni artist picks up a mineral and lets it tell him what animal resides inside. This one decided the spots should be on a classic bear with a long snout. Large turquoise offering on top. Signed what looks like a capital T and lowercase t.
About 2 1/2 inches front to back and 1 1/4 inch tall.
