Vintage HSB Stanley Bit Brace Hand Drill, Universal Jaws Bearing Chuck & 7 Bits:

A great example of a premium pro grade HSB bit brace made by Stanley for Hibbert, Spencer & Bartlet for their top of the line bit brace for their Hardware Stores. This brace is the same as the early Number 813’s. Ut has a 10 inch sweep forward and reverse Ratcheting Bit Brace with ball bearing chuck , universal jaws, steel clad ball bearing head and fully boxed ratchet.

The ball bearing chuck makes tightening down and releasing

an auger bit much easier.

This Brace has the universal jaws that use traditional tapered auger bits as well as the more modern round and hex shank bits.

The Rosewood handles and are also very good. Tested and lubricated, the brace works great.

Also included are 7 round shank auger bits in sizes: 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 15. These all have good screw points, see photos.

I am in upstate South Carolina. I have recently retired. One of my hobbies has been woodworking, but never had the time to do it as well as would like. A few years ago I became passionate about using vintage hand tools vs. battery or electric powered whenever it made sense to do so. Today my passion still thrives and I enjoy properly oiling/waxing, cleaning or refurbishing, if needed those same vintage woodworking tools.

My goal is to place as many of these high quality, made in the USA vintage hand tools back into the hands of today’s craftsmen. I would never “part out” a good tool just for the proceeds. If the tool I have acquired is serviceable I will put it into as good of condition it can be and sell to friends or on .
