Tori Tenjo-ji, officially Mayazan Tenjo-ji, isa Shingon Buddhist temple in eastern Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.The temple is located on Mount Maya in the Nada ward of Kobe.It was established during the Asuak period “538-710” by thesemi-mythical monk Hodo. He was born in India and traveled to Japanvia China and Korea. Hodo cured an illness of the EmperorKotoku, who then sent the monk to establish numerous Buddhisttemples. Teno-ji was an influential temple for a long time, but theoriginal temple which was located very near to the top of the mountain burneddown in 1975. The Temple has been reestablished at a northern and higherplace from the original. This card is not dated but I am sure it is an image ofthe original temple, or the stairs to the temple. It is a beautiful hand tinted card and is inexcellent condition with minor wear and a clean, clear image and reverse.
