Vintage Holt Howard Style Cozy Kitten Salt and Pepper Shakers "Copy Cats" 1960:

This is a set of vintage Holt HowardstyleCozy Kitten salt and pepper shakers "knock - offs" (copies), from Maison International Imports, and made in Japan. (THESE ARE NOT HOLT HOWARDS) These "copy cats" are white ceramic Siamese with green, slanted eyes, and are wearing a blue ribbon (male) and pink ribbon (female). They're really fun for S&P collectors or to add to your 1960s cat decor!

As the Cozy Kittens became outrageously popular during the 1950s and '60s, knock off makers wanted in on the action and made blatant copies of the Cozy Kittens, but with minor changes to their appearance, such as making the eyes forward-looking, and using letters "S" and "P" holes on their tops, as opposed to HH's simple 3 holes. Considered to be as collectible as the real thing, knock offs are just as charming as their inspiration!

These 4.5" tall ceramic shakers wear on their bottoms. The "meowing" noisemakers in each no longer work due to age.

The Maison red and silver foil "M" labels are still present. Made circa 1960.
