Subject: In Japan, Bishamonten (also just "Bishamon") is a god of war and warriors, punisher of the wicked, traditional guardian of Shinto temples, generally represented in armor, with a spear in one hand and intent on supporting with the other hand a golden pagoda representing the divine treasure chest, the contents of which he simultaneously protects and distributes. He is also known as Tamonten (also just "Tamon"), meaning "he who hears many teachings", as he is considered a protector of the places where the Buddha preached. His home is halfway up the slopes of Mount Sumeru. In Shintō, he is one of the Seven Deities of Fortune.
