This terrific Nantucket style basket came from a family estate: the previous owner traveled to New England frequently and we believe she purchased this basket on one of her trips. This is a big basket: it stands approximately 7.5" from base to top of basket, and is approximately 8.75" across the top. With the swing handle in the upright position, it stands approximately 15" tall. This basket appears to be hand made, based on the hand-carved nature of the wooden base at the bottom of the basket. The staves are (we believe) rattan and the weavers are (we believe) cane. The piece exhibits normal wear in keeping with its vintage nature: please see pictures. This is an awesome basket that typifies Nantucket-style design: it would make a handsome and practical addition to your collection!
