Vintage McCoy Cabbage Grease Jar For Sale

Vintage McCoy Cabbage Grease Jar:

This rare grease jar by McCoy pottery may also be used to store trinkets and miscellaneous items. The lid is not designed to be tight fitting so if cookies are stored in it they should be sealed in plastic first. The jar is in very good condition for its age. A small chip on one corner of its base has been colored in black (see photo). The maroon base is 4 inches square. The entire jar with lid measures 8” tall by 7” wide. In addition to the stamped McCoy and USA under the lid there is an S (see photo). Perhaps it is the initial of the potter but I have not found any explanation in my research.
