Vintage Mercury Space Saver dime bank. Made of plastic, it features the Mercury space capsule design and measures 4-1/2" tall. It was a give-a-way to entice young savers from the Citizens Bank & Trust Company. who had locations in Chicago and the outlying areas. A great way to display Mercury Dimes. Fits in well with any bank or space collection.
This savings bank commemorates the 1958-1963 Project Mercury, NASA's first manned space project, whose astronauts were Gordon Cooper, Jr., Walter M. Schirra, Alan B. Shepard Jr., Virgil I Grisson, John H. Glenn Jr., Donald K. Slayton and M. Scott Carpenter.
