Vintage Panamanian Bluefish Angelfish Tagua Nut Carving---New, signed by artistAn angelfish swimming amongst coral, intricately carved by artists from Panama, specifically the indigenous Wounaan and Embera people, in the land where tagua nuts are native and sustainably grown. This figurine was carefully carved and hand colored with natural dyes by native artisans. The piece is beautifully carved and detailed and depicts a colorful tropical angelfish above delicate coral. This piece is hand signed by this accomplished artist---see photo.
Supporting these artisans not only generates income for them but also helps to protect away of life for indigenous people and preserves the forest they dwell in. The tagua nut is grown specifically on the tagua palm within their rain forest and is prized for its texture and ability to be finely carved.Inventory from a beloved neighborhood shop whose owner retired in 2002 after 23 wonderful years.These carefully stored treasures are now ready to be shared and enjoyed.
