This darling, glamour girl, mermaid is in one of the many conventional, pin-up poses of her day. She appears a bit naive and sassy at the same time but pure fantasy.
She is a handmade ceramic from a 1950's or 60's class. They hand painted metalic gold highlights run through her blond hair. Her eyebrows, eyes and lips are of the same gold lustre. Her upper body and face are a pearlescent cream, while the lower body is a dark forest green with a cream tailfin.
It appears that for all her 70 or 80 years, she has some crazing. Part of her tail has come off and painted the same color. It was never noticeable. Clearly marked in pics. Also, a very small burst bubble formed from a gathering of extra ceramic, painted green. Clearly marked in pics. She has a gold marks under her left arm from an awry paint brush skipped strokes, clearly marked.
I hope you enjoyed this bit of nostalgia from days gone by. Sweet and adorable bathroom decor. If she appeals to you, then I hope she is treasured for more years to come.
