Ive only seen one similar pair of painted candlesticks. This is the raw wood-not painted. I'm guessing oak. There is a split. It's clear in the photos. For the rustic charm I would not fix it. Let its age and wear show! I priced it lower nonetheless. It's a very cool rustic decor farmhouse piece.
