This listing is for a vintage Electric Cutlery Co. WallKill River Works Candy Stripe Equal End Jack Pocket Knife. The primary blade tang and the pen blade tang are both stamped \"Wallkill River Works.\" These knives were manufactured by the Electric Cutlery Co. which was owned by the New York Knife Company. Initially, the New York Knife Co. made knives with the Electric Cutlery Co. trademark starting in 1910. These knives were of lesser quality than their Hammer Brand line. The Electric Cutlery logo was replaced by the Wallkill River Works trademark in 1920. The Wallkill knives were produced until 1931 when the New York Knife Co. went out of business. They do not come up for sale on very often.
The knife has two stainless steel blades. The liner and pins are brass and the backspring is stainless steel. The scales are plastic composite. The knife measures approximately 3 1/4 inches closed. The primary blade has good snap, tight lockup, a respectable edge, but slight wiggle when deployed. The pen blade has good snap, tight lockup, a respectable edge, and solid deployment. The scales are very clean with no chips, cracks, cuts, or dents.
