Vtg Russian Zhostovo Folk Art Floral Hand Painted Metal Tray 9 3/4\" X 13 1/8\":

This Russian Zhostovo metal tray is a beautiful piece of folk art, featuring a hand-painted floral pattern against a glossy Tan and Black finish. It measures approximately 9 3/4\" inches from top to bottom and approximately 13 1/8\" inches from side to side.  Sticker on the back Жосmobo and I believe that the markings on the front belongs to the artist, but not certain.

Zhostovo painting (Russian: is a Russian folk handicraft. It involves painting metal trays.

Zhostovo handicrafts began early in the 18th century, In 1922 Novoseltsevo work artel was founded in Novoseltsevo to produce lacquered metal trays; in 1924 Zhostovo work artel and Spetskustar were founded there.

There is no visible date on the tray however, research has lead me to believe that this piece is Vintage.

The beautiful hand- painted metal tray shows signs of prior ownership, shelve, and vintage age with surface blemishes. There are surface scratches mainly visible on the on back.

All of the hand- painted colors: Flowers, Smokey look around the sides separated by the Silver and Gold leaf trellis are bright and gorgeous!
