For sale here is an extremely hard to find WW1 Imperial Russian M17 Sohlberg Steel Combat Helmet. The helmet is complete with cotton denim type liner and brown leather chin strap with steel buckle. The helmet appears to retain original paint throughout and is a gray green color. All rivets are nice and tight and the liner is firmly held inside of the shell. There is wear, age, and crazing to the paint. The most worn area of the helmet is the exterior of the air vent. There are no major dents or dings and the paint loss is minor. Inside, the canvas liner shows only minor wear and soiling. As mentioned, the liner is tight and solid. The internal drawstring is clean and present. The chin strap is riveted at the bale and near the buckle. The buckle is chrome and in good condition. The chin strap shows heavy age and wear and the bales. I wouldn\'t call the chin strap fragile, but care should be used when handling. I was able to post this on a helmet forum and learn from several reputable members that this was, in fact, a Russian manufactured Sohlberg and that it was the early type 1 produced helmet. Overall excellent condition!
