Welcome to this listing for an original WWI US Army Wooden Ammo Crate. The crate measures approximately 15" x 8" x 4.5" The crate is in good shapeits age. The sides and top are painted black. Not sure if this was standard for some crates or done after the fact. The black paint has some flaking and scratches throughout, see photos. The brass or copper hardware is in working order but shows nice patina. One screw is missing from the hinge area, see photos. The carrying strap or handle is missing. An excellent item for a collector or re-enactor. This crate is a nice representative piece for any World War One collection.
