This is a World War II Airplane Ambulance medic Medical Case. We purchased this from an estate and children said that there Father brought it back from Pearl Harbor where he was stationed. It is a metal case, with leather handles that are still in great usable condition, plastic inserts inside the main opening with leather tabs (some are missing leather tabs and the plastic is old so it has changed shape a little but I was to get all of them out and clean them).

Some show this unit to be for a stove, food pantry and dish set. I have seen photos of those units and they are different from this.

Differences seen:

1)The second compartment that opens inside main compartment has a tissue or handle towel dispenser on it made of plastic, instead of a metal tin.

2) The compartment that fold down is separated into 3 different sections, instead of being one large section that holds the dishes.

3) There is no stove in the main compartment.

I only saw two examples of the one that has the stove in it. This exact one I have not been able to find.

The case opens, closes, and handles very well. The only part that I had to use some effort was to get out the plastic inserts with leather tabs.
