Reproduced photo of LtnKurt Wolff of Jastas 11 & 29taken from Sanke Card #513(from my collection). Kurt Wolff was an exceptional pilot and ace ofthe Imperial German Air Service attaining33 victories and thecoveted Pour-le-Merite (Blue Max) before being KIA. Wolffis shown proudlywearing his captured British leather flyingjacket which were prized by the German pilots of the day.

Hebegan flying fighterswith Jasta 11 in October 1916. Itwas not until thearrival ofvon Richthofen in January 1917that he started scoring steadily. Under von Richthofen, Wolffbecame a star performer of Jasta 11. Showinggreat skillas a pilot and potential as aleader,he was sent on tocommand Jasta 29 in May of 1917. With the formationofJG1 Wolff returned to his old squadron and commanded ituntilhisdeath on 15 Sept. 1917. He wasa veryclose friend of von Richthofen (maybe his closest) and was killed inthe Baron\'s triplane FI/102 while the Baron was on leave.

I have removed all thewriting,\"cleaned up\" and enlarged thephotowhich nowmeasure 5\" X 7 3/4\" while still retaining acrisp and clear image. Matted and put into a standard9 X13picture frame it would be a handsome addition to any WWIcollection.
