sale is for an original US Army issue M1917 or P17 rifle bayonet. Blade is made by Remington and dated 1917. Has proper inspection markings, bluing on blade is decent for its age, I'd guess probably 30-40% remaining. Blade is straight, no bends, and has only factory edge, but the edge shows some small edge dings, the point is fine and not bent or tweaked. Good walnut grips. Hilt has some bluing left, but not much. Scabbard shows several reissue's of paint (these bayonets stayed in military or National Gaurd service for decades after WWI). Top scabbard fitting is maker marked GF, bottom fitting is marked GF also, but its hard to see. The leather body has a partial makers or inspectors marking of GK (Graton & Knight???) but I cannot see an issue date. Great bayonet for your P-17 rifle or 1897 Winchester Trench Gun.
