So that we don't forget, I am listing this spring (through the month of May) a special group of original illustrative artworks that are related to WAR - unique paintings that were created for and reproduced on, the covers of books that told stories of warfare . . . from the Civil War to Vietnam, and WWII in between. All are one-of-a-kind, original and published paintings (many of them vintage illustrations) created to illustrate the themes of battle, warfare, and all of them are specially priced. ACT QUICKLY because they will only be offered at these sale prices until the end of May and then all listings will come down.ORIGINAL ART - BOOK COVER"STALINGRAD" artist: DAVE PETHERThis is the original painting created by Dave Pether (1943-2021) that was used to illustrate the cover of a WW2 novel, in Pether's inventory carrying only the title "Stalingrad" - the published title is so far unknown but in style and execution it looks very much like the several cover illustrations he created for paperback books by Leo Kessler - all published by Futura in the 1970s. It's a very gripping, intense scene, handpainted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, in "wraparound" format, 11" x 16" and carries a label on the back signed by the artist's widow/executor attesting to authenticity.NOTE: If you are purchasing more than one painting on the same day during this sale in this series, I will charge no more than to ship one (refund after purchase).
