Great Pair of Bamboo Boxes/Containers
Hand Made in China

These belong to us. They originally belonged to a co-worker of my wife. He had them on his desk for many years and said that he got them on a trip to China but I can\'t be certain nor do I know the year.When he retired he gave them to my wife and she gave them to me. They have sat on my desk for 10 years or more but no longer work with the space.(Between us, They\'ve been owned for about 32 years)

One has a lid and the other does not. The one with the lid:Held together with tiny hand hammered nails, it is surprisingly sturdy.The nails go all the way through most of the box and are bent on the other side so that adds to the sturdiness.The lid closes very tightly.The hinges, while not completely tight, and I\'m not sure they ever were, hold the lid securely. (I did attempt tolightlytighten but screws didn\'t move.) It is approx. 8x5x6 and all the little pieces of bamboo on the top and sides have little brass/or copper bands. The one without the lid: This one hasmetal bands that match the other box as well as bent corner pieces. It is approx.10.5x6x5.

These are very obviously hand made...if they aren\'t, they\'re the best \"fake handmade\" I\'ve ever seen. Very charming pieces. The last picture shows the end of the box with the lid to show the roughness on the end. I did dust them but the roughness makes them hard to get completely clean. I would suggest that compressed air would help. I believe you will be very pleased with these...butPlease view all pictures and ask any questions before purchasing to be certain this meets your standards and expectations.
