pre-WWI EraUS Army M1909 Fencing or Training Bayonet for M1903 Springfield Rifle - Excellent Condition - RARE

Up for sale is a pre-WWI EraUS Model 1909 Training or Fencing Bayonet. This bayonet is marked: EP on both side of the leather ball. The markings are partially obscured, but are readable. This bayonet will fit the M1903 Springfield Rifle. This bayonet was secured to the rifle barrel with a pair of set screws. The blade of the bayonet is made from a thin length of spring steel with a padded leather covered tip. This is the early pattern without the full leather covering. No rust or pitting on the handle. The leather covering is soft and supple, no rips or tears. Only some minor scuffing from age and handling. The seams are all intact, no fraying. Please see photos for details and condition. This bayonet is often referred to as \"Fencing Bayonet\" or a \"Training Bayonet\". It was used to train soldiers how to use their bayonets in battle without risking injury to any of the soldiers during this training. There were not large numbers of these \"Fencing or Training\" Bayonetmade. Today they are RARE and hard to find. The bayonet is used, please see photo\'s for condition.
