Solid Silver Gilded Monstrance Ostensorium 19th Century (1819-1838) French Work"
Stunning antique silver monstrance ostensorium. This astonishing piece was crafted in France in the 19th century, by the silversmith Alexis Renaud (1831-1840) in Paris, and stands out for its large size and exceptional quality. The monstrance bears hallmarks on the base and in certain sun rays that attest to the origin and quality of the silver. The rectangular base rests on four curved feet in relief, the front of which is adorned with a gilded silver applique depicting the Lamb of God. On the back, one can see the symbol of God in relief and engraved, a radiant triangle on a cloudy sky. The stem features a classic knot with two cherub heads spreading their wings upwards and framing an image of the Holy Head at the front and the Tables of the Law at the back. Above the knot, we see the magnificent Sun standing on a cluster of wheat stalks and with the lunette framed by clouds and cherub heads. The ostensorium is crowned with a relief Latin cross. Michel-Ange head hallmarks (1819-1838). Paris guarantee hallmarks. In a mahogany box.
