16x13.5" with old folds, the receipt from the State of Maine glued to the family aid list. Contains list of Newburgh soldiers, their military company, list of family members and affiliation, and amounts of aid in 1863. Receipt for these payments to soldiers' families signed by Jabez Knowlton. Most of these soldiers appear to be in the Army, a couple are noted as "Conscript", and one man, Jedediah Green is a "Navy sailor on Gunboat Niphon".Items are from the estates of Jabez and Amos Knowlton of Newburgh, Maine, who both served as postmaster there for decades. They had a long-running general store and Jabez was a Selectman for many years.If this is an sale listing there is no "Buy it Now" price--please don't ask. We don't end sales early.
