Goldwater, Arizona\'s junior senator, had positioned himself as spokesman for the conservative opposition to the liberal Kennedy administration, setting the stage for a presidential run in 1964. His enormous popularity in his home state is testified to by this bolo, which is, we should note, the state\'s official neck wear!
