Hello dear customers, for sale this antique Victorian circa mid 19th. century authentic French personal letter wax seal stamp. Superb rare seal very curious, with memento mori occultist symbolism on silver stamping die. Featuring intaglio Ouroboros snake, big hourglass and 12 cemetery latin crosses. The stamp made with solid carnelian hardstone handle with beveled edges. Silver die marked with French silver hallmarking; eagle head, fleur de lis, and fortress wall figurative mark. The seal was found at estate sale in Paris, in my opinion was belonged to important occultist in past. The Ouroboros represents the perpetual cyclic renewal of life and infinity, the concept of eternity and the eternal return, and represents the cycle of life, death and rebirth, leading to immortality. The hourglass/san timer symbol of The passage of time and 12 latin crosses are Mistry for me probably can be conected with the twelve apostles. The stamp in excellent condition insignificant dings and scratches on silver.
