This listing is for a rare 19th century French Niello small icon of The Holy Family, by Reberg. The central plaque of niello depicts The Holy Family with gilt chalices in a stylized square shape, set in a gilt-bronze Gothic frame, the frame signed Reberg; and set in a green onyx panel. The reverse is fitted with a pendant loop for hanging. This unique piece measures about 7” high x 5.75” diameter. The inner frame measures about 4.75” high x 3.65” diameter. In very good condition, there is a blemish to the upper left corner of the onyx frame. An extraordinary presentation of The Holy Family and an awesome devotional piece.
