The 2022 Official White House Historical Association Christmas ornament honors the administration of President Richard M Nixon and First Lady Patricia Nixon (1969-1974). In particular, it rightfully honors the contribution of First Lady Patricia Nixion at Christmas.
Their first Christmas in the White House Mrs. Nixon introduced several new holiday traditions. In 1969 she began candlelight tours of the Mansion. She also offered TV specials of \"Christmas at the White House\" for those who could not visit in person. She and her daughter would be interviewed at the end of the end of the tour. For the first time in 25 years green wreaths and red candles were hung in the 16 windows facing Pennsylvania Avenue.

Most important, the First Lady introduced the first Gingerbread House into the decorations. White House chef, Hans Raffert, created a 3-foot 45 pound German A-Frame gingerbread house complete with Hansel and Gretal.
