43\" French Antique Religious Solid Oak Statue/Sculpture of Saint King Louis IX:

Description of item for sale: This skillfully hand carved statue of King Louis IX (Saint King Louis) is from France and it dates to the mid/late 1800\'s. Louis IX was born in 1214 and ruled France from 1226 until he died in 1270. He was often depicted with a sword in one hand (see the last photo) and we believe this statue is missing the sword. The statue is made from solid oak wood where multiple pieces were carefully hand fitted and carved to create it. It\'s finished to a dark oak color. Still faintly visible are gilded borders on his robe (see photos). Overall this statue is in very good antique condition with very minor chips and scratches and separations of the old wood as would be expected. Overall, there is no notable damage and no woodworm or dry rot. Dimensions: 43\" tall.
