PRESERVING HISTORY,FRENCH INDIAN WAR AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR SILVER HILT HIGH RANKING OFFICER SWORD WITH RUBY EYES CIRCA 1760.
Sword measures: 29 1/4\" Overall. Blade length: 22 1/4\". Plain blade has a single medium fuller with a secondary fuller near the spine. Large 4” solid silver cross guard with a downturned finial on one end and upturned on the other. The central part of the cross guard is pierced and decorated with sprays of arms on both sides. The basket-like guard is polished steel blending well with the silver mounts. The guard is quite ornate and exceptionally well done. The pommel is an unbelievably well-articulated lion’s head in solid silver with ruby eyes. The black sharkskin grip has a silver tape wrap. The leather scabbard has 3 silver mounts embellished with sprays of arms. CONDITION: blade has a pleasing light gray finish with only the most minor staining. The hilt is quite solid with a few very small period repairs to a couple areas of the guard. The grip shows light wear as does the superb lion pommel. The scabbard remains quite solid, and the mounts are undamaged. A striking sword with visually impactful details & outstanding craftsmanship.
