This listing is for a beautiful brass barley open twist taper candlestick holder. It is approximately 11.25” tall and 5” wide at the base. This one is a bit of a mystery to us. The barley twist design debuted in the 19th century, but rose again in popularity in mid-century modern design. Because there isn’t a maker, we cannot definitively date this item, although it is reminiscent of earlier designs. Our clues that make us think that it is antique are the welding and markings on the side. The bottom was painted with a substance covering up the makers mark. We tried to clean it off, but it wouldn’t budge.
As this is a vintage item, it shows wear typical of the age and use of item. We have gently cleaned it, but with some polishing it could look brand new. Shipped from a smoke free environment.
