This remarkable papier mache composition round covered box features molded profile edge and lovely hand-painted miniature oil scene of rural figures with landscape featuring cattle and medieval ruins. It is in nice, stable condition with the usual edge nicks and some spots of loss with possible areas of inpaint. Measuring 3 3/8" diameter x 7/16" tall, it is of a style and form usually associated with the Stobwasser firm of Germany and dates to the 1820-30's.
