From a New Jersey Collector's Estate

WHAT IS INCLUDED:

- Large framed photograph (original photo print - not a reproduction) of the new (post-1968) bridge. The visible photo is about 19" x 15" and the full framed size is approx. 29" x 25. This photo was professionally framed sometime pre-1994 (based on the old 215 area code), and my research suggests it is probably from the 1980s. It was obviously a retirement gift to someone who worked at the DuPont factory, which you see in the background behind the bridge. The signatures are of DuPont employees.

- Nice 8x10 glossy photograph (original photo print - not a reproduction) of the old "first bridge" pre-1968. There is no date on the photo, so I don't know when it was printed.

- Official 1954 program from the dedication ceremony of the old "first bridge"

- Original 1947 Christmas card from the Delaware governor, featuring the old "first bridge." The "Christmas 1947" is handwritten. (If that information is accurate, then this card represented just an artist's conception of the future bridge. Congress approved the bridge project in 1946, but construction did not actually begin until 1949.)

- Nice 8x10 glossy photograph (original photo print - not a reproduction) of the one-millionth vehicle to cross the bridge -- a Mack truck in 1951. The photo shows the truck driver paying a uniformed toll collector.

- First Edition book, signed by author in 1983: Crossing the Delaware, by William J. Miller, Jr. The book has its dust jacket, and it contains a fully illustrated history of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. On the inside flap of the dust cover, as you see, is the same truck driver who appears in our 8x10 photo above.

- Original 1968 invitation to the dedication ceremony for the new "second bridge" -- the twin span

- Part of a 1968 newspaper page from September 13, 1968, containing three articles related to the dedication ceremony that occurred the previous day

[ CONDITION... ]

- All in beautiful vintage condition -- from a non-smoking environment.

- The mat boards on the photo have some dust and minor staining/speckling behind the glass. The gray accent mat board edge has some age loss/chipping.

- The 8x10 photo of the truck driver was originally affixed in someone's photo album. On the back of the photo, the album page is still attached, and the edges of the photo (white margin) are slightly unevenly trimmed as you can see.

- The dust cover of the book is not perfect. It has at least one small edge tear as pictured.

- The newspaper page is not complete; it is trimmed at the bottom as shown.

The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up.
