ELIZABETH MISSING SEWALL (February 19, 1815 – August 17, 1906) was an English author or religious and educational texts notable in the 19th century. Her brother William introduced her to some leaders of the Oxford Movement, a movement of high church members of the Church of England. The movement’s devotees argued for the reinstatement of some older Christian traditions. Sewall was influenced by the religious stir of the period. In 1840, she published in The Cottage Monthly, Stories Illustrative of the Lord’s Prayer, which appeared in book form in 1843. In 1844, Sewall published Amy Herbert, a tale for girls, embodying Anglican views.

In 1866, Sewall was convinced that middle-class girls needed a better education. She founded at Ventnor Saint Boniface School.
