This beautiful "Fighting Ships of the United States Navy" collectible stained glass and pewter plate series will look great on display or to add to your collection of US Navy memorabilia! This set includes what I believe are all 6 plates in the series (I am pretty sure it was just 6, but couldn't verify for sure) and were issued by the US Historical Society and US Navy Memorial Foundation in the 1988 range.
These plates feature the art of renowned Navy Artist Lt. Commander John Charles Roach (USNR) displayed exquisitely in stained glass, surrounded by a pewter plate rim. The plates will come in their original box and include a Certificate of Authentication (#314) for each plate.This plate series includes the following ships:
1. Great White Fleet2. USS Constitution3. Nautilus Submarine4. USS Arizona5. Monitor and Virginia6. USS Nimitz
The plates are just below 6" diameter and in excellent condition. The glass has no noticeable blemishes. There are a couple very incidental hard to see scratches on the pewter if you look real hard with a light. These may be from the original manufacturing or maybe from cleaning. When on normal display, I don't think these marks will be noticeable at all. There are some incidental scratches on the back from when these were on display (nothing major at all). Please take a close look at the pictures to see the condition of the plates. Items are sold as is with no returns accepted.
