Offered for sale and just unpacked from a box that was packed away some 35 years ago comes this stunning perfume / powder jar combo that was manufactured by the Fostoria Glass Company of Ohio. The pattern that is etched onto the lid, called \"Willowmere\", was made from 1938-1968 - almost 30 years. However, I have read that these combo powder jars / perfumes manufactured by Fostoria were only made from 1924-1928. So, therein lies the mystery!! I tend to believe that these powder jars / perfumes were only made for a short period of time b/c you don\'t see very many so - perhaps - the pattern was manufactured a bit earlier than what is normally stated. Or, a customer had a special order! In any event, this is a RARE and UNIQUE piece that you will treasure. The bottom jar measures 4 1/2 inches across and stands 1 1/4 inches tall. The lid / perfume combo measures 4 1/2 inches tall without the stopper. With the stopper, the entire pieces stands about 6 1/4 inches tall. In terms of condition, the base or bottom is in mint condition with no chips, no cracks, no discoloration, no damage. The perfume / powder jar lid combo is also in EXCELLENT condition with no chips, no cracks, no discoloration, and no damage. The stopper measures almost 2 inches long - it is 1/8\" short of 2 inches. The stopper has two small chips at the bottom of the \"head\" of the stopper - the part that sticks out of the perfume. The tiny chips could be from sitting inside of the opening of the perfume. The stopper looks very pretty but I think that there may have been a larger one with the original set. Still, somebody has done a decent job of finding a replacement. This is a very unusual set - supposedly only made from 1924-1928 - so please look at the photos, check my response, and ask any questions before making a purchase. The \"Willowmere\" pattern was only made in clear with white etching so if you are looking for a colored piece of Depression Glass, you may have to look elsewhere. This is a hard-to-find piece!!
