Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a nice Giuseppe Vasari silver gilt bronze limited edition sculpture of Nostradamus made in Italy. Crafted in 22K gold and .800 silver, the appearance of this figure is absolutely stunning!This beautiful bronze sculpture is of a Scholar/Philosopher (Nostradamus) holding abook in this left hand and some sort of tool inhis right hand. Beautifully decorated with22K gold gilt metal, pewter, and .800 silver overlays and mounted ona 2-tier alabaster base with four ormolu feet at the corners. This figure is not signed G. Vasari, however, we have several figures from this same series including another Nostradamus which are signed on the center back. The sculpture has its numbered brass limited edition medallion on the base with this figure being #33 of 250.This bronze is from a series of figures produced in limited edition including Crusader Knights, Swiss Guards, Musketeers, and others. Vasari\'s incredible work is not often offered for sale, isvery well sought after and generally commands high prices. His artistic technique is of a Cellini method of fusing precious metals to a bronze base through a very difficult process. Vasari is a renowned master craftsman and his limited edition sculptures are considered to be enduring investments in art. Measures 9 1/2\" high, 3 1/8\" wide (at feet) and is mounted on a 2-tier alabaster base measuring 2 5/8\" square at the base. Weighs 5.4 pounds. This nice sculpture is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The base has some irregular coloration and striations in the natural alabaster although there is no noted damage.
