This is an amazing and sizable lamp made by Marbro Lamp Company of Los Angeles, California. This lamp features a man and woman embracing with a sheaf of wheat at their bare feet. I believe that the figures may have been modeled after a famous painting or bronze statue and Marbro was known to make lamps from sculptures that client's brought in to their shop. The lamp appears to be cast from plaster and then beautifully painted. The detail is stunning especially when looking at the man's and woman's faces and feet and the wheat. This lamp will certainly be a focus of attention in your home.

Marbro was formed after WWII by Morris Markoff and his brother and they sold their lamps mostly through Interior designers and upscale furniture retailers. They also marketed their lamps tocelebrities and actors.

This listing is for the lamp only and not the shade.. If you want the shade you will have to pay separate professional packing and shipping for the shade which is $308 to the west coast .

This lamp will be professionally packed and double boxed in oversize boxes by the UPS Store and insured for full value and shipped by UPS Ground.

The shipping is calculated for the west coast and we are located in the northeast. If you are not on the west coast please contact us to find out the shipping cost for your location.

APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS

• HEIGHT: 55 1/2" to the top of the shade rod and 30" to the top of the man's head
  
• BASE: 15" from front to back and 12" wide
• WIDTH:14" wide at the figures' arms
• WEIGHT: 67 lbs for the lamp

MAKERS MARK & HALLMARKS:Marked Copyright Marbro Lamp Co. on the base and also marked Markoff on a sticker on the duplex light socket

CONDITION: Good Pre-owned and working with no cracks or repairs. Notation of some small paint losses and some small chips. The woman has a paint loss on her left hand and a chip on her left sleeve. The man has some paint losses on the gold sash on his back and also on the back of his left sleeve. There are some minor paint losses on the base as shown in the pictures. The decorative cording around the base is pushed in as pictured The sockets were probably pull chain at one time but are no longer. The socket shells have a hole where the pull chain would have fit through. The duplex head is original and the cord looks like it may have been replaced at one time. The original finial is included but the threaded inner portion has come away from the body as pictured and I think it can be repaired

The shade is not part of the listing and will only be included if you pay separate shipping for the shade which is $308 to the west coast. The shade looks like a replacement and is in Excellent Condition with no damage or soiling and is still in its original plastic covering
